Nothing reinvented
Postfix, Dovecot and Rspamd handle the mail. Rewriting IMAP would have taken years and produced something worse than what already exists.
Email on a domain you own
A real mailbox on your own domain — filtered, authenticated, and yours to keep. Use standard email everywhere, or choose Private when a mailbox needs stronger privacy.
What you get
Real protocols, DNS that configures itself, an API the product is built on, and a way out. Most providers manage one or two.
Point a domain here and the records write themselves — MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, verified per domain rather than once per account. Connect Cloudflare and authorize once, or take them and add them by hand.
MXSPFDKIMDMARCDovecot storage behind standard IMAP and SMTP, so every client you have already configured just works. Not forwarding, and not an alias pointing somewhere else.
mx1.ruber.me:993mx1.ruber.me:465Every address a small team needs, landing in one inbox. Every plan includes extra addresses, so another address is not another subscription.
billing@support@hello@Create mailboxes, read messages and send over REST. Signed webhooks push events to you, with a delivery log you can inspect.

Two things we do that most providers leave to you, and one thing we will not pretend about.
MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC are written and verified for you, then enforced on the way in and on the way out. Mail claiming to be from your domain has to prove it.
Every inbound message is scored by Rspamd before delivery — sender reputation, phishing heuristics and authentication results all feed that score. Outbound is checked too.
Smart keeps message content available to the mail plane so IMAP, search, the API and integrations work. Private is being built to encrypt content for the user and to enable E2EE between Ruber mailboxes. Neither hides metadata: sender, recipient and timestamp stay visible because SMTP needs them.
Compare Smart and PrivateMailbox modes
Not every inbox has the same job. Ruber gives you the choice between full email compatibility and a mailbox designed to reveal as little as possible.
Everything email can do.
The mail plane can process message contents, so standard protocols, search, automation and integrations work normally. Readable by us, and not zero-access.
Best for support, sales, operations and everyday mail.
As little access as possible.
Message contents are encrypted for the user instead of being available to the mail plane. E2EE applies between Ruber mailboxes; mail arriving from outside crossed the internet as ordinary SMTP first.
Best for sensitive personal, executive, legal and confidential mail.
Privacy has real trade-offs. On Private, server-side search, AI and integrations cannot read message contents, and third-party IMAP clients cannot transparently decrypt them. We show you what changes and let you decide.
See the full comparisonMode is set per mailbox, so each address can match what it actually does — the shared inbox stays searchable while the one that carries contracts does not have to be.

Smart mailboxes use standard IMAP and SMTP, so the client you already have this open in works — no bridge, no plugin, no proprietary protocol between you and your own mail. Our own apps are one more client, not the price of entry.
Private mailboxes are the exception: decrypting protected content needs the Ruber web client, which holds the key. Any IMAP client can still reach the mailbox and see the messages are there — it just cannot read them.
