Create your first mailbox

Signing up gives you one mailbox on ruber.me straight away — you pick the part before the @, and the address works as soon as the account exists. Nothing about that first step requires you to own a domain, or to have decided whether you want one.

You will be asked to set a password. That password is what your mail client uses to connect over IMAP and SMTP, so it is worth putting in a password manager rather than typing it twice on a phone keyboard.

Once the mailbox exists, the next useful thing is connecting a client — see Connection settings for Apple Mail, Outlook and Thunderbird. Everything after that is optional.

Did this not answer it?

Mail reaches a person rather than a queue. Include the domain and the exact error if there is one — it saves a round trip.
